PROFILE OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS

MINU SINGH: PRESIDENT DFDW

Minu Singh is a philanthropist and is wife of Advocate Vikas Singh ( Former Bar Council President). She is graduate and trained Interior Designer. Minu Singh has always encourage the deaf women to come forward and learn the skills to become self- dependent. She also always encourage parents of deaf children to learn the sign language and re-build the communication between them and their children. Under her guidance and support we started a special legal awareness seminar “ Swayam Shakti”.
This seminar is conducted annually during World Deaf Week in September. Hundred of deaf people participate and gain knowledge about their rights. Especially Deaf women were able to know how to face the issues like: Sexual Harassment, Domestic Violence, Legal rights on Property etc.

PADMA KALRA : VICE PRESIDENT DFDW

Padma Kalra is a post-lingual deaf individual who has successfully completed her education in a mainstream hearing school and has a significant background in the private sector. Drawing from her extensive experience and expertise, she now dedicates her efforts to training and teaching deaf girls at DFDW. Padma is also deeply involved in
organizing a range of rehabilitation activities and projects, contributing her skills and knowledge to support and empower others in the deaf community.

UMA KAPOOR: GEN. SECRETARY DFDW

Uma Kapoor, born deaf, has never allowed her hearing impairment to hinder her educational and professional achievements. She graduated in Library Science and dedicated 35 years of her career to the All India Sports Council of Deaf. Through her leadership, hundreds of deaf individuals have had the opportunity to represent their states and country in national and international sports. Uma’s efforts have led to several deaf athletes receiving prestigious awards, including seven Arjuna Awards during her tenure. Beyond her contributions to sports, Uma Kapoor has been a pioneering force for deaf women. In 1991, she established the Matrimonial Assistance Service for the deaf, and her vision helped foster the creation of numerous deaf women’s organizations across India. She has consistently encouraged deaf women to advocate for themselves, pursue skill training, and build self-confidence and respect within society.organizing a range of rehabilitation activities and projects, contributing her skills and knowledge to support and empower others in the deaf community.

PREETI RAWAT: TREASURER DFDW

Preeti Rawat, who was born deaf, has successfully completed her higher secondary education and received training in tailoring and computer skills at DFDW. She has recently finished the Indian Sign Language Course (ISLRTC), further enhancing her skills. Preeti is known for her maturity and strong communication abilities within the deaf community. She has worked on front foot at all the events of DFDW encouraging Deaf Girls. She is a good chess player also.

VARSHA : SPORTS SECRETARY DFDW

Varsha, a deaf talented girl is a graduate of DSEU College with a degree in Digital Media and Design specializing in graphic design, excels both in sports and in her professional work. She is a source of inspiration for deaf girls and plays a vital role in our events by handling all aspects of design work, including certificates, banners, brochures, and more organizing a range of rehabilitation activities and projects, contributing her skills and knowledge to support and empower others in the deaf community.

SANA MESSY : PROGRAM SECRETARY DFDW

Sana is a graduate from IGNOU and holds a diploma in computer studies. She has gained valuable experience working as a Data Entry Operator in the private sector and completed internships at Apollo Hospital and Fortis Hospital. Additionally, Sana has served as a teacher at DFDW and has also worked in the hospitality industry.

RACHNA KHANNA

She is 12th pass, a house wife and a good artist. she helps our
students during diwali in making handicrafts and painting diyas.

NIDHI SHARMA

She is a dedicated homemaker who actively supports our organization by assisting with events and exhibitions, providing valuable hands-on experience for our students in selling  handicrafts.

VIDYA JOSHI

Vidya, an expert in tailoring with previous experience as a Tailoring Instructor at DFDW, frequently assists our girls by sharing innovative designs and craft articles. Her expertise is incredibly valuable to our work.

RENU SALUJA

Renu, a National Award-winning artisan who is deaf, served as a Craft Making Instructor at DFDW for over 15 years. After retiring from DFDW, she joined our board as Treasurer and is now an Executive Board Member. Her extensive experience and expertise continue to be invaluable to our organization.
